Q. What is the $40 for 40 Years Campaign? How long does it last?

NHSNYC’s $40 for 40 Years Campaign is a year-long peer-to-peer fundraising campaign honoring the organization’s 40th Anniversary. This giving site will be open throughout the year 2022 to commemorate our founding in 1982. This giving site will close December 31, 2022, but you can still make donations online at nhsnyc.org.


Q. What is GiveGab?

GiveGab is a nonprofit giving platform that helps nonprofits to raise money, engage donors and manage volunteers quickly and efficiently. GiveGab offers a full portfolio of simple and easy to use products that allows organizations to function in a more streamlined manner.


Q. Who can donate?

Anyone with a credit card and access to the internet.


Q. What forms of donations are accepted?

MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express are accepted. Donations via check, cash or stock cannot be accepted for this campaign, but can be sent to the organization directly. Please contact marketing@nhsnyc.org if you would like to give via check, cash, stock, ACH or wire transfer.


Q. Is my $40 for 40 Years donation tax deductible? Will I receive a receipt for tax purposes?

Yes, your gift is entirely tax deductible. You will automatically receive an email receipt acknowledging your gift for tax purposes. Our EIN is 13-3098397.


Q. Is there a minimum gift?

There is a $10 minimum donation.


Q. Can I make donations via a mobile device?

Yes! Simply visit 40for40.nhsnyc.org on your mobile device.


Q. Is my payment secure?

Absolutely - The $40 for 40 Years Campaign platform is facilitated by GiveGab, a company who has partnered with Stripe, a PCI Service Provider Level 1 (the most stringent level of certification possible) to process all gifts made through our giving website.


Q. Does it cost anything to give through the GiveGab platform? How much of my donation will NHSNYC receive?

There is a 3.5% processing fee and a 2.5% (+ $.30) credit card fee for donations made using all major credit cards (MasterCard, Visa, Discover or American Express). You have the option to cover these costs in addition to your gift. If you choose not to do so, the cost will be charged to NHSNYC.


Q. Can I help promote NHSNYC’s $40 for 40 Years Campaign?

Please do! We encourage you to share your participation in the campaign and your contribution utilizing the images and messages located in the Ambassador Toolkit. You can spread the word via email, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and more! We appreciate you amplifying our work!


Q. Can I use my employer's matching gifts funds?

Yes! We strongly encourage you to take advantage of your employer's generosity to enhance the impact of your support to NHSNYC. To see if your company offers this benefit or to learn more about your company's guidelines, contact marketing@nhsnyc.org.


Q. How will the donation be reported on my credit card?

Gifts made on our $40 for 40 Years platform will appear on donors' credit cards as Neighborhood Housing Services of New York City or NHSNYC.
